Quinta do Monte Panoramic Gardens - Funchal

Located in the heart of the picturesque and historic village of Monte, two minutes walk to the cable car terminal and to the start of the famous wickerwork toboggan run, this beautiful garden Quinta is a haven of relaxation and tranquillity. The original manor house has been beautifully restored and houses the extensive public areas, which include the hall, reception, reading room, lounge, bar and billiards room. All 42 rooms are spacious and very comfortable and overlook the beautiful gardens.

Surrounding the Quinta do Monte are extensive mature gardens, featuring centenary trees and plants and meandering cobbled path. In the high grounds, large numbers of Laurissilva species, considered “World Heritage” by Unesco, have been planted. Nestling in the gardens is the original Chapel of the Quinta do Monte, which has been restored in all its detail. Easy access to Funchal town centre is guaranteed via the cable car, local bus or taxi from the village square, or the hotel courtesy bus. After leaving the airport carry on, on the highway to Funchal and take the exit to Monte. When you get to the crossing, turn left and go up until the big roundabout taking the first exit in your right. At the end of this road continue going up until the village of Monte, which you will find at your right after approximately three minutes. At the end of the LARGO, take the straight exit, which surrounds the church, turning on the first left. The main entrance of Quinta do Monte is at around 50 meters, on your right side.

Restaurant Monte Garden The Restaurant Monte Garden keeps the traditional green flair of the antique manor houses of Madeira. It provides a superb panorama view over the extensive gardens. A complete ‘a la carte’ menu with a wide range of Madeiran, Portuguese and international dishes is available. A careful selected wine menu of Portuguese and international wines completes the offer. Providing a different ambience there is also a beautiful winter garden with a glass front where you can, sitting on your table, enjoy a panoramic view over the centenary garden and the sea. Bar Located in the old main building, it is the ideal place for an aperitif or digestive, in a warm and comfortable atmosphere, at the side of a fire place for the colder evenings. Kiosk In the gardens of the Quinta with a panoramic view over Funchal, this typical Madeiran kiosk invites to a light meal or a tea in a relaxed atmosphere.
